Hepatitis B- a series 3 shots required of students under the age of 19 on the 1st day of their 1st semester at SSU (or blood tests showing immunity to Hepatitis B).

Location: West side of campus � between Schulz Library & Rachel Carson Hall, across the street from Zinfandel Marketplace.
Hours: 8 am-4:30 pm M-F excluding campus holidays/closures. Open until 5:30pm on Mondays only when regular academic year classes are in session. Summer hours & services may vary.
Health Center Services Include Medical Care: Confidential, high quality outpatient medical visits for acute & sub-acute illness, injury, basic mental health concerns, immunizations, women�s health & contraception, athletic & travel medicine, preventative health & more. In-patient services, specialist level or after hours care, and on-going care for complex chronic conditions are beyond the scope of the SHC.
Liaison & Referral: The SHC provides interim services & coordinates with off-campus providers if transitional, chronic or specialty care, complex testing, hospitalization, or other care beyond our scope is needed.
Lab & X-ray: Free & low cost diagnostic lab tests & basic plain X-rays in conjunction with medical visits.
Pharmacy: A licensed on-site pharmacy dispenses medicines prescribed by Student Health Center clinicians as well as flu vaccine and on-prescription items at very low cost. Also provides patient consultation and education. Students may elect to fill prescriptions at off campus pharmacies at their own expense.
Health Education & Disease Prevention programs are designed to promote health by minimizing the spread of contagious diseases on campus as well as by addressing nutrition, fitness, contraception, immunizations, psychosocial health, alcohol, drugs, healthy lifestyle choices, self-care and other topics.
Eligibility & Fees: Most SHC academic year medical visits are provided without charge to regularly enrolled SSU students. Discounted fees are charged for medications, immunizations, some diagnostic tests, special purpose physicals, & limited summer services.

Emergencies: Call 911 for emergencies requiring immediate attention.
After Hours: For non-emergency medical needs warranting after hours attention or advice, contact your personal off campus MD or health insurance advice line, urgent care clinic, or emergency room. Health Insurance is not required to attend SSU or to use the SHC, but is recommended to help with medical needs that are beyond the scope or hours of operation of the SHC. Prior to the start of their first day of classes, entering students are required to send the University copies of official records showing they�ve received the following immunizations:
These records are due at least one month before the start of the student's first semester at SSU.
Students unable to locate immunization records may send photocopies of lab test results showing that they are immune to the diseases prevented by the required vaccines.
To avoid late penalties send records at least 4-6 weeks before the start of your first semester at SSU and no later than July 15th.
Students who fail to meet compliance deadlines are subject to conditional enrollment status and late penalties. A HOLD will be placed on the student's ability to register for classes. This hold can only be removed after the SSU Office of Admissions and Records has received the required proof of immunization documents and had time to process them. Students should regularly check their SSU e-mail & My SSU accounts for HOLD status.

Exemptions for medical, religious or profound personal belief require a signed informed waiver form & must be discussed with a Student Health Center nurse. Medical exemptions require a letter from the treating physician. Exempted and non-compliant individuals may be excluded from campus as a public health measure during a disease outbreak.

ARE MY SESSIONS CONFIDENTIAL?
CAPS follows the ethical guidelines of the
American Psychological Association and California
State laws pertaining to confidentiality of counseling
records. In other words, everything you say to
your counselor is held in confidence, unless there
is an imminent danger to one self or others, or
we obtain your written authorization.
HOW LONG MAY I BE SEEN?
Many students utilize our services. Therefore, we are
unable to provide long-term counseling, so we see
clients on a short term basis. The exact number of
sessions will be discussed with your counselor.
WHAT CAN I TALK TO MY COUNSELOR ABOUT?
Your counselor will meet with you for approximately
45-50 minutes. During that time you are
free to discuss any issues that may be troubling
you. Some topics include, but not limited to:
eating issues, perfectionism, academic concerns,
depression, anxiety, relationship problems and
transition difficulties.
